This year, for the first time in its history, the Essence Festival of Culture included an Africa House and Nigeria Day held on the 1st of July 2023 in New Orleans. That Good Media, partnered with the Essence Film Festival to lead a delegation of Nollywood stakeholders for ‘Nigeria Day.’
Nigeria Day played a vital role in bringing about important conversations that affected the industry. Nigeria Day at Essence Film Festival aimed to foster relationships, thereby creating platforms for Nigerians in the film industry.
Conversations were centered around promoting diversity, unlocking untapped talent, driving economic development, facilitating cultural exchange, and empowering African filmmakers. It was an investment in the future of cinema, enriching the global film landscape with fresh perspectives and narratives.
Prominent Nollywood delegates who were part of the activities for the day included Richard Mofe Damijo, Stella Damasus, Daniel Etim Effiong, Ijeoma Onah, Mofe Duncan, Yolanda Okereke-Fubara, Osas Ighodaro, Deyemi Okanlanwo, Stan Nze, Omowumi Dada, Shawn Faqua, Ayoola Ayolola.

At That Good Media, we are passionate about lifestyle, entertainment and the interplay across cultures and continents.
As such, we were excited to be a part of the 2022 Essence Festival discourses that sought to find areas of collaboration and interest among Nollywood and Hollywood stars.
The session, International Focus: First Looks from Africa curated by media and entertainment guru, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, That Good Media, Toyosi Etim Effiong was as insightful as it was rewarding for established and upcoming African actors and movie industry stakeholders.
The panel session sought among other broad objectives to give audiences, particularly, potential investors a full view of production in Africa and viable models for the international distribution of content.
